We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and optimize the performance of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities, located on dairy farms utilizing anaerobic digesters. In this key leadership role, you will manage teams focused on Health & Safety, Environmental Permitting & Compliance, and Operations Procedures & Training. This role will require travel to plant locations, ensuring operational excellence and supporting plant personnel at each site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of RNG facilities, ensuring peak performance of anaerobic digesters and gas upgrading systems
- Manage and support direct reports, including the Health & Safety Manager, Environmental Permitting & Compliance Manager, and the Operations Training team
- Develop and implement standardized processes that drive operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance across all RNG sites
- Ensure strict adherence to environmental, safety, and health regulations, collaborating with compliance teams to stay ahead of evolving standards
- Work closely with site managers to set production targets, troubleshoot issues, and enhance plant output and reliability
- Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive safety programs, ensuring a culture of safety at every level
- Continuously monitor and analyze plant performance metrics, providing leadership with data-driven insights and improvement strategies
- Travel to various plant sites to conduct audits, ensure compliance, and support local teams in achieving operational goals
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 3 years in the RNG, renewable energy, or biogas sectors
- Proven leadership experience overseeing multi-site operations and managing cross-functional teams
- In-depth knowledge of anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading processes, and RNG plant technologies
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance within the energy or RNG industries
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to plant locations
