Venturing represents a way to leverage the startup community to simultaneously help startups grow and scale while bringing that critical innovation to our customers. Venturing is new to GE Vernova and this position represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of venturing at the company.

The Associate, Ventures will be responsible for supporting venturing and incubation deals of all kinds. These may include VC investments and may also include commercial or technical partnerships between the startups and the company. S/he will also be responsible for deal analytics and modeling, as well as team operational support.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Source, structure and support venture partnership execution
  • Provide operational and occasional administrative support across the team
  • Track and manage startup equity portfolio across GE Vernova
  • Partner across GE Vernova to support functions and businesses in brokering startup deals

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum ~3 years of professional experience
  • Minimum ~2 years of deal-making experience
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint with demonstrated experience in financial modeling, data analysis, and creating compelling presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Desired Characteristics

  • MBA Preferred (not required)
  • Experience working both in a large, matrixed organization
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Willingness to “wear many hats” and demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Deal Structuring Experience: Familiarity with venture capital deal structures, term sheets, and investment negotiations.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing financial models, contracts, and market research to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including business units, legal, and technical experts.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the energy sector, decarbonization, and the technologies driving the energy transition.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data, assess investment opportunities, and perform due diligence.
