About The Role
As a Senior Financial Project Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the Accounting Leadership Team to drive project-based accounting initiatives across our organization. This role involves working closely with Project Finance, FP&A Manager, and the general Accounting Team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with GAAP financial standards, conducting financial audits, and managing project-specific accounting functions (Service Contracts, EPC, Construction, and Lease Accounting) to support our growing nationwide portfolio of utility-scale renewables. Experience with Lease Accounting (ASC842) and revenue recognition (ASC606) is essential.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of project-based financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, yearly) and journal entries across multi-entity structures.
- Collaborate with EPC Project Managers to assess and track project costs, ensuring adherence to critical renewable project milestones.
- Lead capitalization implementation accounting initiatives in coordination with Project Development and EPC Teams.
- Manage project contract accounting requirements and compliance, including financial reporting packages, loan draw requests, and debt service coverage reports.
- Lead revenue recognition assessments based on Lease Accounting ASC842 and Revenue Recognition ASC606 requirements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of corporate finance and accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
- Experience in Project-Based Accounting (Project Development, EPC, Construction, Service Contracts, Leases).
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks or similar financial accounting software programs required.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, including macro/VBA writing, data queries, and pivot tables.
- Solid understanding of financial statements, reports, and accounting processes (account reconciliations, accruals, deposits, contracts, capitalization, leases).
- Familiarity with financial debt agreements and debt service coverage ratios (DSCR).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience supporting financial reporting and accounting initiatives for EPC or Construction operations.
- Familiarity with renewables or energy storage projects is highly desirable.
