We are looking for a people-oriented problem solver to provide specialized support for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This role primarily offers remote work flexibility, but the candidate should be available to travel to EPA Headquarters in Washington, DC, as project needs arise.
Your Impact
In this Tester/Business Analyst position, you will assist the EPA with software development testing and business analysis, focusing on systems that support the implementation of fuel and fuel additive regulations, including renewable fuel.
To thrive in this role, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of regulations, guidance, policies, and IT systems related to EPA programs governing the manufacture of transportation fuel. Clear and concise communication with your team on these topics will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct manual testing as part of an agile development team, ensuring technical direction for personnel involved in software development tasks, including reviewing work products for correctness and adherence to design concepts.
- Coordinate with the Scrum Master, Technical Manager, and/or Program Manager to resolve issues and ensure user satisfaction.
- Prepare presentations on system and requirements concepts for colleagues and end-user representatives.
- Elicit requirements through interviews, document analysis, and regulatory analysis, and proactively communicate with users and stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
- Support project deliverable completion under the guidance of project managers and maintain awareness of task deadlines for requirements and test deliverables.
- Write test scenarios, document software bugs, and create development stories with acceptance criteria.
Your Skills And Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development requirements analysis and manual testing in complex development and staging environments.
- Strong background in business process analysis, especially on software development projects.
- Ability to create and update epics and user stories with ease.
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to obtain public trust clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- A BA or MA in Engineering and/or Environmental Science with 3-5 years of related experience.
- Comfortable working with an agile development team in a remote environment.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira and Confluence is a plus.
- A self-starter who manages their own work effectively and welcomes constructive feedback.
- A collaborative team player who thrives on sharing ideas and working with others.
