Energy Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

2KB Energy Services is an independent energy and environmental consulting firm based in north Atlanta. We deliver success by providing meaningful engagement and technical expertise that ensures our clients realize their goals for energy efficiency and sustainability. To support our rapid growth, we are seeking an Energy Engineer to strengthen our team, either in the Atlanta offices or remotely. This role includes working in a close team environment to provide utility and energy analyses, building energy modeling, and energy savings calculations for our clients.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to be able to work on tight deadlines and have exceptional organizational, verbal, written, and presentation skills. What Youll Do:

  • Participate in on-site inspections and end-use metering activities to identify efficiency improvements for commercial and industrial customers.
  • Work closely with customer facility and operations teams to identify energy and operational efficiencies and develop solutions that meet the customers objectives.
  • Analyze utility and energy efficiency program data utilizing Excel or other analytical software, identifying trends, summarizing program events, and identifying causal impacts on program results.
  • Prepare facility energy models using industry-standard modeling software.
  • Build and present clear, concise data models and technical reports describing recommendations and opportunities.


What We Need:

  • Engineering or engineering-related bachelors degree or higher.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with energy and environmental solutions firms performing energy audits and building performance analyses.
  • Experience with ASHRAE Level I, II, and III audits.
  • Knowledge of decarbonization planning and deep energy retrofit analysis.
  • Proficiency in building energy models.
  • Experience with utility rate and incentive analyses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support development and project needs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with EnergySTAR Portfolio Manager.
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization programs.
  • Experience supporting energy modeling projects.
  • Experience with energy modeling software (DOE E-Quest, Trace, etc.).

  • Proven capability to lead and execute energy audits, LEED Certifications, and energy cost analyses.
  • Experience in energy efficiency and sustainability, including industry research, technical writing, and presentations.
