We take great pride in living by these 6 core values: Pride in Quality Craftsmanship Go Above and Beyond Put People First Have a Humble Heart Give a Damn Shoot Straight Freedom Solar Power is looking for an exceptional Senior Collections Specialist to manage accounts receivable aging and ensure timely payment collection from customers for residential and commercial portfolios. This candidate will lead the company’s A/R efforts by resolving late payments through effective communication across multiple channels and collaborating with departmental stakeholders on projects and process improvements. The Senior Collections Specialist will work cross-functionally with our Sales, Operations, Legal, Accounting, and Customer Care teams. This position will work on-site out of our Austin, TX Headquarters (78744). Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Monitor and maintain a portfolio of client accounts ensuring the accurate and timely collection of payments
  • Initiate and manage collection efforts for overdue accounts by sending reminders, following up on payment commitments, and negotiating payment arrangements and plans
  • Investigate collections issues and participate in developing and executing collection strategies while ensuring an extraordinary customer experience
  • Ensure the company follows all protocols, laws, and regulations applicable to the collections process
  • Monitor collection activities by tracking past-due invoices and initiating communication through various channels to identify issues and implement effective strategies for obtaining payments on past-due accounts
  • Ideate and propose new collections strategies and processes to minimize delinquent payments and improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain and manage an exceptionally high level of data integrity and precision
  • Strategize cross-functionally with other departments to enhance customer experience while mitigating risk
  • Collaborate with the Customer Success Officer, Sr. Customer Experience Manager, and the A/R team to identify and reduce credit and financial risks, enhancing the company’s overall risk management process
  • Manage vendor relationships and small portfolios with a third-party collection agency

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in collections
  • Previous experience working with commercial collections and business-to-business
  • Strong proficiency in collections, credit, and fraud mitigation
  • Background in customer success, customer support, sales, retention, accounts receivable, or account management
  • Experience in a client-facing role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with working in an office environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Mechanic Lien utilization to secure payment rights
  • Understanding of construction payments streams, milestones, and progress payments
  • Familiarity with databases and data analysis concepts
  • Desire to collaborate with a larger team and achieve company goals
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and precision
  • Strong organizational skills, solution-oriented, and results-driven
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude

  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for accuracy is required
