Lead design engineer for utility-scale PV Solar projects (20MW) and larger
Strong understanding of inverter based technologies commonly applied for these project types
Effectively communicates with stakeholders and can actively participate in project plan meetings
Lead development of electrical design packages for utility scale BESS
Review and approve equipment drawings and specifications for procurement. Review project drawings for constructability and code-compliance.
Support new product and technology research initiatives
Lead process improvement initiatives
Develop and manage relationships with a network of vendors and engineering consultants for the entire project life cycle.
Support training of engineering department personnel and development of design drawing libraries
Perform site visits during construction for project assessment.
Additional duties as assigned and/or directed
Responsible for the solar PV electrical engineering design work on assigned projects
Working with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
Supporting company business development activities as it relates to renewable energy projects
Monitoring your project progress to ensure quality, on-time and on-budget delivery of projects
Solar PV system design including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for rooftop, carport, and ground mount (fixed tilt and single-axis tracking) systems
Solar PV system energy production modelling
Developing solar construction and equipment specifications
Engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, and conduit sizing)
Qualifications:
Degree in engineering or equivalent educational/certification background
4 years of solar design and/or project engineering experience
Working knowledge of industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other standards relevant to the industry
Moderate proficiency with PVSYST software
Working knowledge (or Moderate Proficiency) in AutoCAD software
Strong knowledge of power engineering principles relevant to photovoltaic energy and Battery Energy Storage systems.
