Are you a seasoned Chemical Engineer looking to make a meaningful impact in the field of energy storage? Form Energy is seeking a talented individual to join our Cell Chemical Engineering team within the Cell Engineering organization. As a Senior Chemical Engineer specializing in fluid mechanics and handling systems, you will play a key role in designing and developing test vehicle components for our iron-air battery. Your responsibilities will also include leading the analysis and definition of requirements for fluid management and material compatibility. This role is crucial in conducting hands-on verification testing to ensure that our fluid handling systems meet all requirements.

Joining our team offers you a unique opportunity to collaborate with various internal teams, including R&D, Cell Design, Cell Performance, and System Design. Your expertise in chemical engineering, particularly in fluid mechanical and fluid handling, will be essential as you lead efforts to identify and solve critical design, performance, and cell-system interface challenges.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in solving pressing and often open-ended technical problems with rigor and creativity. Your contributions will be instrumental in shaping the future of energy storage technology.

What You’ll Do

  • Define product design and test vehicle components for fluid and gas management, ensuring performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Execute chemistry and mechanical design trades to optimize the design of fluid handling components and interfaces between cells and systems.
  • Serve as the in-house expert in fluid and gas management systems, including plumbing, filters, pressure relief systems, and other related components.
  • Familiar with analytical chemistry.
  • Ability to provide high-quality data analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for fluid and gas management challenges.
  • Establish processes and define system requirements to maintain chemical specifications throughout the battery’s service lifetime.

What You’ll Bring

  • PhD or MS with 3+ years of professional experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field is required
  • Expert in fluid mechanics and fluid handling.
  • Experience leading engineering verification tests
  • Demonstrated experience with defining engineering requirements
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Use mathematical models and simulations to predict and analyze the behavior of fluid systems under different conditions is a plus
