Job Title: Senior Solar Technician
Location: West TX
Pay Range: Salary range – $120k – $135k
Travel Expenses: Mileage at government rate, travel time hours
Target start date / availability: ASAP.
Work Schedule: 40-50 hours per week
Position Overview: Engage in the inspection, operation, and maintenance of solar energy systems. This role involves managing and conducting periodic evaluations of solar assets owned by the company and its partners. Responsibilities include troubleshooting issues, managing outages, coordinating with contractors, and communicating with stakeholders regarding both planned and unexpected outages.
Key Duties:
- Conduct regular monthly and annual inspections of solar energy installations.
- Execute routine and preventative maintenance tasks, and arrange for third-party maintenance services as needed.
- Monitor and enhance solar energy production.
- Address and resolve issues related to solar farms, including DC ground faults, switchgear problems, component failures, and inverter malfunctions.
- Oversee and manage warranty claims and maintenance work with manufacturers, suppliers, and clients.
- Assist with the commissioning and energization of solar facilities.
- Ensure all commissioning tasks are completed and nothing is overlooked.
- Facilitate the transition between construction and operational teams.
- Perform medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) switching operations.
- Communicate outage notifications and updates about maintenance work to clients via phone, text, and email promptly.
- Keep detailed records of solar farm outages, including their timing, causes, duration, and response actions.
- Promote a safety-focused work environment by encouraging adherence to safety protocols and practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to work on-site in environments with medium and low voltage electrical systems.
- Willingness to travel frequently for asset inspections and project work.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on addressing client needs in a professional manner.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with innovative and creative approaches.
- Experience or capability in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with external contractors.
- Adherence to established safety protocols and best practices.
- Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools for maintenance and inspection tasks.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a technical school, or a minimum of three years of experience in solar energy.
