We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Electrician to join our team as a
Solar Interconnection Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and vetting the interconnection requirements for solar energy systems. Your expertise will ensure that all solar projects meet electrical codes, utility interconnection standards, and safety regulations. You will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and utility companies to facilitate seamless integration of solar systems into the grid.
Responsibilities
Electrical System Design and Review
- Conduct detailed reviews of solar PV system designs, focusing on electrical components, wiring, and interconnection points
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams on electrical designs, ensuring they meet all safety and compliance standards
- Identify potential issues in system design that could impact the interconnection process or system performance.
Field Inspections and Troubleshooting
- Perform on-site inspections of solar installations to verify compliance with approved designs and electrical codes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any interconnection issues that arise during installation or operation.
- Provide expert advice on corrective actions to ensure successful interconnection and system performance.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to coordinate the interconnection process.
- Liaise with utility representatives to clarify interconnection requirements and resolve any challenges.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Master Electrician, with specific experience in solar PV systems and grid interconnection
- Licenses and Certifications Valid Master Electrician license required. NABCEP Certification is highly desirable. OSHA 30 Certification is a plus.
- Skills
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations, including NEC.
- Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes and requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documents.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
