Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team, focusing on the design and development of Battery Management Systems (BMS) and home energy storage solutions. This role will oversee the engineering of cutting-edge battery modules and energy storage systems, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in BMS design, energy storage system integration, and team management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • BMS Design & Development: Lead the design and development of advanced BMS systems for lithium-ion battery products used in RV, marine, and home energy storage applications. Ensure compatibility with industry standards and optimize performance for real-world applications.
  • Energy Storage System Engineering: Oversee the design of scalable and efficient energy storage systems. This includes battery sizing, performance analysis, and configuration to maximize system reliability and efficiency in home energy storage solutions.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales engineering, and project engineering, to develop and implement innovative energy storage solutions. Act as a technical resource across multiple departments to streamline projects and support the entire product lifecycle.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a high-performance, innovative culture. Set goals, provide feedback, and ensure the team meets all project deadlines and technical requirements.
  • System Performance Analysis: Conduct system performance analysis and modeling using tools like SolidWorks, MATLAB, and other engineering software. Assess the accuracy of sizing tools and models to optimize battery and system performance.
  • Technical Documentation & Training: Prepare technical documentation, including system designs, performance reports, and customer-facing materials. Provide technical training to internal teams and customers, ensuring thorough understanding of our energy storage products.
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through execution, ensuring that designs meet applicable codes and standards. Support project engineering to ensure all customer functionality and contract requirements are fulfilled.
  • Quality & Compliance: Work closely with quality assurance and production teams to develop and maintain QC standards. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, including those governing battery energy storage systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in BMS design and energy storage system engineering.
  • Strong background in designing and implementing BMS for lithium-ion batteries.
  • Experience in the development of home energy storage systems, including performance analysis and system modeling.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing battery energy storage systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, and Python. Experience with AWS is a plus.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to guide and mentor a diverse team of engineers.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation and technical challenges.
