What You’ll Do
Provide expertise on utility and ISO/RTO transmission and distribution interconnection requirements and industry standards for telemetry or data capture (fault recording, sequence of events recording, meter data)Gain in-depth product knowledge on Tesla energy storage system telemetry and data collection capabilitesParticipate and represent Tesla in national, regional, wholesale market and utility standards committees or industry working groups and formulate clear and concise feedback to external stakeholders and policy makers Collect input from a diverse group of stakeholders (customer, sales, service, firmware, hardware, etc.) and distill into user stories and define clear requirements for software and firmware development teamsDevelop internal and external technical documentation to educate customers and adjacent teams about newly deployed functionalities and complianceSupport new Tesla Energy software features by writing specifications and test plans, assisting development and test efforts, managing deployment, and documenting new capabilitiesProvide technical support both internally and externally with customers throughout the sales and deployment of Tesla products into new and complex applications
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experienceDirect Energy industry experience in projects involving interconnection of renewable power plantsStrong knowledge of relevant Energy industry standards such as NERC reliability guidelines for Inverter-based resources, IEEE 2800, or regional regulations such as CAISO Tariff, Business Practice Manuals, ERCOT nodal guidelines, etc.Ability to quickly become familiar with existing and new standards and regulations and stay up to date on the evolution of requirements applying to Tesla Energy projectsStrong understanding of Energy systems including devices such as meters, inverters, SCADA controllers, and network systemsExperience with digital fault recorders or event capture is desired. Understanding of controls and communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA is a plusDemonstrated application of analysis, design, and testing to solve complex engineering problemsFamiliarity with programming languages like Python, C, C++, RUST, GO is a plus

Expected Compensation
$96,000 – $282,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
