Scope of Job PowerFlex, an EDF Renewables company, is a leading national provider of intelligent onsite energy solutions that support carbon-free electrification and transportation. The Finance Associate will lead the financing of the company’s renewable energy projects such as solar, solar-plus-storage and /or EVSE. This role will be a deal lead and will have an opportunity to get involved in all aspects of solar, storage & EVSE financing and development and will work across the company’s Business Development, Project Management, Engineering, Finance and Accounting departments to support the day-to-day activities of the deals to drive company profitability. This role is responsible for owning and shepherding third party financed transactions from origination to operational stage of the projects. The Finance Associate will be accountable for a diverse range of duties like relationship management with the potential clients, investigation of the core strategic issues or queries, creating and presenting the deliverables effectively as per the requirements of the client/investors, etc.

Location

This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.)

Responsibilities

80% – Oversee the day-to-day activities of asset financing

  • Lead all aspects of transaction management & execution, including due diligence, data room management, internal risk and return evaluations, negotiating contracts, and coordinating processes with clients, investors, and internal partners
  • Actively engage with the financing team in planning the timing of financing efforts to avoid construction delays
  • Create investment materials and run various analysis for financed projects
  • Manage/own the financial model for asset sales and asset ownership scenarios
  • Prepare documentation and data rooms to assist in investor diligence
  • Run Q&A process with investors (maintain database, work with internal teams to provide answers, manage investor)
  • Negotiate key financing contracts (e.g., MIPAs, EPCs, etc.) with investors, and contribute to identifying and mitigating transaction risks
  • Build rapport with internal cross-functional teams and external investment partners to drive project profitability and ensure successful transaction close

20% – General organizational assistance

  • Identify and support initiatives to continuously improve and/or automate business processes across the company with a focus on tools or processes related to financing
  • Contribute to the development of necessary internal training programs
  • Lead ad-hoc business requests and initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in project finance, asset financing, or renewable energy transactions. Additional experience in project contract and project development is a plus

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong financial modeling, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task constantly evolving environment
  • Ability to analyze financial, statistical, and operational data, and derive thoughtful conclusions
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial concepts, financial statement analysis, reporting, and budgeting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $109,350 – $133,650 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex’s comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex’s compensation packages carefully consider a candidate’s qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on a computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds regularly/occasionally.

Working Conditions

Approximately 90% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers, telephones, and general office equipment. Possibly 10% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings. Occasional physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary – up to 25 pounds. Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
