The Electrical Engineer performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects. Uses creativity and objectivity to perform studies and technical activities to arrive at optimal, cost-effective, and reliable technical solutions. Supports Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing with engineering knowledge and experience. Performs other duties as required. Much of the work will involve electrical components and system design. Frequent tasks include, but are not limited to, one-line documentation creation, load lists, creating engineering BOM, engineering project hours estimates, test procedures, and executing projects. Must be able to multi-task several projects at the same time.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical design drawings and BOM to meet regulatory and safety guidelines.
- Liaising with clients and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications and on time.
- Establishing relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, other professionals.
- Maintaining and improving existing engineering processes and workflows.
- Participating in conferences, events, networking, and learning opportunities.
- Creating cost estimates, schedules, and various other documents.
- Analyzing existing processes and scheduling meetings to discuss improvement initiatives.
- Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment and systems.
- Designing and building prototypes as part of the development process as required.
- Work in a cross-functional project team environment, as well as individually on assignments.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing and service teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- At least 3-5 years of experience working as an Electrical Engineer in an OEM equipment manufacturing design environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience with using AutoCAD 2D software to create electrical schematics to detail design specifications and requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
- Medium voltage electrical system design and troubleshooting.
- DC Power system design (PV and/or battery storage), troubleshooting, and testing.
- 4-20ma current loop component and control system design and troubleshooting experience.
- Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, CAN bus, RS485 communications protocol design, and troubleshooting.
- PLC-based controls design and programming experience.
- AC & DC one-line diagram design documentation.
- Panel load calculations and schedule development.
- Experience defining electrical/controls requirements as part of system specifications and design.
- Experience supporting field and customers to troubleshoot technical issues using a sound root cause analysis and problem-solving approach.
- Experience supporting Manufacturing to resolve issues and work with Electrical Associates to develop standard assembly methods and evolve troubleshooting skills.
- Experience designing electrical systems with UL-approved components.
- Experience in control enclosure selection, design/layout per applicable standard(s), and/or customer requirements.
- Experience in cable design for application including conductor sizing and type, connector selection, and equipment routing.
- Must have a working knowledge of NEC and IEC and be familiar with applicable IEEE and other industry standards. Including arc flash assessment and LOTO.
- Experience with IoT, Networking, and Cloud-Based solutions.
Working conditions
The majority of time will be spent in the office work area. Will also work in the Manufacturing plant, Test line, and/or Electronics Lab.
