Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Knowledge of and experience with various solar cell technologies and topologies toward solar panel characterization; assess system compatibility for evaluation of economic and environmental feasibility.
Knowledge of and experience with various panel technologies such as thin film, poly crystalline, mono crystalline, III-V solar cells, bifacial, hetero-junction solar cells; familiar with IV curve, fill factor, maximum power point, STC and NOTC.
Engineer and design solar systems to meet customer requirements.
Work closely with the civil engineering team at Timmons Group to ensure that physical, wetland, local ordinances, and other constraints are properly considered in designs and layouts.
Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic performance using tools such as PVsyst and/or PV case to estimate energy production and optimize efficiency.
Perform equipment selection and prepare Bill of Materials to ensure compliance with utility requirements such as IEEE, UL, and NEC standards.
Prepare one-line diagrams and site plans and other installation documents to submit to utility, grants and permitting.
Responsible for the design of solar facilities and layouts, medium voltage facilities, and help with the design of collection substation facilities under the direction of other engineering staff.
Perform engineering and design calculations.
Provide input to senior engineering staff on design issues based on the results of calculations or engineering solutions.
Perform Power System economic evaluations.
Prioritize tasks to ensure quality, safety and customer satisfaction while adhering to budget.
Follow directions and learn from experience and training.
Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
Communicate with client, staff, and internal design team.
Skills/Requirements Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
A bachelors or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and/or related technical field.
Must have received or receive within nine months of hire, a valid E.I.T. license
Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of experience in the engineering of renewable energy facilities, medium voltage facilities, collection substations, and renewable facilities.
Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and solar energy computer-based modeling tools.
Experience with Power System economic evaluations.
Ability to multi-task and function while working in either a team or individual environment.
Working knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read and interpret technical literature and engineering plans.
Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities
