Senior Associate, Construction Services I
The Senior Associate, Construction Services I is part of the Technical Services team and is responsible for all aspects of construction management and contractor network development. This role includes conducting site assessments, developing detailed scopes of work, contractor proposal review, contractor management, and conducting construction quality control and oversight. The Senior Associate also serves as a technical reference for program managers and provides project management support as needed. This position contributes to the successful delivery of Elevates programs across the organization, including energy and water efficiency, renewables, lead and asbestos abatement, and general health and safety measures through technical and contractor support. The Senior Associate will ensure that Elevates contractor networks across the organization are inclusive, equitable and represents the communities where programs are delivered. This role works closely with Programs, Engineering, and Construction team members.
The Senior Associate, Construction Services I reports to the Team Lead, Construction Services. This position is based in Chicago, Illinois, is a hybrid role and requires site visits throughout the Greater Chicago Area.
- Conduct building site visits to develop construction scopes of work and provide construction oversight across Elevates programs.
- Identify housing rehabilitation needs in single and multifamily homes, with an emphasis on opportunities to improve energy and water efficiency, health and safety, and accessibility.
- Conduct project inspections as needed based on individual program requirements.
- Collaborate with program staff, workforce development, and other teams in recruiting, vetting, onboarding, and managing contractor networks.
- Explore and support innovative solutions to address challenges faced by community-based contractors in successfully participating in Elevate projects.
- In collaboration with Program staff, assess what services and trades are priorities for recruiting and vetting due to capacity and trade skills needs.
- Vet contractors based on program specific requirements and Elevate terms.
- Collect feedback from Elevate teams on any challenges and needs for contractor engagement.
- Build positive relationships and ensure contractors (particularly newly vetted/onboarded) have the support they need to be successful.
- Support identifying and connecting priority contractors with appropriate Elevate projects.
- Learn and stay current on new energy efficiency and renewable industries standard operation practices and proven methodologies.
- Regularly and consistently update activity log in Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to ensure visibility and data accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree in environmental studies, environmental science, sustainability or building science preferred, or up to seven (7+) years of related experience
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills and a drive for continuous process improvement
- Extensive experience working with and supervising various contractor trades
- Experience generating and reviewing project scopes of work
- Experience with customer relationship management software such as Salesforce or other construction management software
- Attention to detail, organization, and documentation
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- MS Office Suite
- Capacity to manage a high volume of work and complex situations
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.

- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred
- Valid Drivers License
