What You Will Do

Role Overview:

The Environmental Associate will carry out environmental and permitting activities for the North American platform ensuring that EDPR NA’s projects meets corporate standards and pertinent regulatory requirements.  The Environmental Associate will also be responsible for managing and tracking environmental data and environmental obligations during construction and operational phases to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manages environmental and social aspects of EDPR’s projects from planning phases through implementation
  • Compiles documentation, attend meetings, conduct necessary studies, and perform
  • other tasks as needed to obtain permits for wind farms at the local, state, and federal level
  • Creates and update project maps and databases using GIS tools
  • Assists with responses to internal environmental, social, or permitting-related inquiries in support of mergers and acquisitions, Power Purchase Agreement bids, project financing, and third-party due diligence
  • Prepares and manages tracking tools for environmental, social, and permitting data and permit obligations
  • Assists with implementation of EDPR’s Environmental Management System
  • Assists with development of scopes of work for procurement of environmental/permitting services
  • Assists with other procurement activities, such as contracting and processing invoices
  • Stays abreast of current environmental, social, and permitting regulations in Mexico
  • Manages the work of third-party consultants
  • Conducts and manages all work in a timely fashion to ensure that critical deadlines are met
  • Additional duties as required

What Are We Looking For

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience with managing multiple third-party consultants and contractors
  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or related field 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in energy or a related industry
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; some knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Spatial Analyst software preferred
  • Must have valid passport enabling international travel
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner
  • Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred

Travel:

up to 50%

  • Strong interest in renewable energy
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal direction in both structured and unstructured work environments, often from remote locations
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Walking: Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites.
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
