Vice President EPC

Remote – US

Ecoplexus Inc. (www.ecoplexus.com) is a leading renewables developer, owner, and operator with end-to-end execution capabilities, including all phases of development, financing, EPC, O&M, and asset management. The company focuses on utility-scale solar and energy storage projects in the 75-400 MW range in the U.S. We’ve successfully developed 90 projects in the US from greenfield site selection to commercial operation. At present, we have a development pipeline with over 9 GW of solar opportunities and over 4 GW of storage opportunities in the U.S. Through Glenbrook Builders, Ecoplexus follows two models: it acts as general contractor to build projects, and it acts as construction manager with a third party hired as general contractor.

General Summary:

The Vice President EPC is a key member of the leadership team, reporting to a C level executive, coordinating with leaders of other business functions, and the company’s Construction focused subsidiary, Glenbrook Builders. This position is a strategic leader responsible for directing engineering and procurement for the Company and its projects, and managing the commercial negotiations and execution of construction for the company’s US renewable energy projects via Glenbrook Builders and/or 3rd Party EPC providers. He or she will oversee technical and contractor procurement strategy, reviews and negotiations, as well as manage the procurement and engineering teams. This position requires the analysis of broad and complex issues and the formulation of strategies to ensure that deadlines for internal and external stakeholder delivery are met in a cost effective manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Structure, recruit, and manage the team, developing and motivating team members and ensuring proper bench strength. Serve as a leader and role model and create working environments where employees are equipped and driven to excel.
  • Manage the engineering, procurement, and construction functions, consisting of engineering staff, project managers, construction managers, site superintendents, safety and quality staff, and project controls analysts among others
  • Manage contracting, working closely with the legal function, for all project execution functions, including vendors and subcontractors
  • Lead the input and negotiations from an EPC standpoint for design-build-transfer type proposals and agreements with utilities, working closely with the company’s commercial, development and legal functions
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement continuous improvement plans for EPC processes, KPIs, IT and systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable corporate safety and risk management objectives as well as regulatory requirements.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. MBA or Masters in one of those disciplines a strong plus
  • 10 plus years’ experience in a similar role or where there has been clear advancement and this is the next step in your career, for a top tier construction, solar or wind development, or EPC group
  • Strong leadership record demonstrating the ability to grow and influence highly effective teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be able to facilitate meetings of both a business and technical nature
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage key contractor, consultant and supplier relationships
  • Solid financial acumen including demonstrated P&L responsibility, budgeting and cost management
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute deadline driven projects with strong bias for action and ability to prioritize multiple and competing projects
  • Strong technical knowledge related to all aspects of renewable energy systems, components, and plans
  • Demonstrated success with implementing and managing complex project management systems and tools
