Role: Solar Installer/General Laborer

Company Overview: Earthlight Technologies is a family owned and operated business based in Ellington, CT. We specialize in solutions for residential solar, commercial solar, EV charging Stations, and commercial energy efficiency. Our mission is to make the process easy and seamless.

Position Overview: We are looking to hire a solar installer or general laborer, who is also an Equity Eligible Person in the state of IL, to work on a contract job in Urbana, IL. This job is expected to be full time, a duration of 4-6 weeks, and start around October 2024. Illinois Power Agency Act (20 ILCS 3855/1-10) defines Equity Eligible Persons as, “persons who would most benefit from equitable investments by the State designed to combat discrimination, specifically:

  • (1) persons who graduate from or are current or former participants in the Clean Jobs Workforce Network Program, the Clean Energy Contractor Incubator Program, the Illinois Climate Works Pre-apprenticeship Program, Returning Residents Clean Jobs Training Program, or the Clean Energy Primes Contractor Accelerator Program, and the solar training pipeline and multi-cultural jobs program created in paragraphs (a)(1) and (a)(3) of Section 16-108.21 of the Public Utilities Act;
  • (2) persons who are graduates of or currently enrolled in the foster care system;
  • (3) persons who were formerly incarcerated;
  • (4) persons whose primary residence is in an equity investment eligible community.”

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Install solar/PV system Racking and Panel Components on commercial building rooftops
  • Prepare and organize tools and materials for efficient installation
  • Place components according to instructions or diagrams
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure the safety of the installation team and site.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to guarantee the installation’s safety, efficiency, and longevity.

Qualifications

  • Registered, or able to register, as an Equity Eligible Person
  • Roofing & framing skills
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying 75lbs
  • Applicant must be comfortable working at elevated height
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in carpentry
  • Understanding of applicable building and safety code requirements
  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Salary: Urbana, IL prevailing wage hourly rate
