Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTEs emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

    Develops and maintains processes, communications and relationships necessary to obtain all permits and approvals for construction projects to ensure that DTE Energy adheres to all local, county, state and federal regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with local, county and state departments that control road right of ways.
  • Works with both the DTE Electric and Gas operations organizations to ensure permits are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that DTE Energy work conducted in the right of way is completed to issuing agency regulations/standards.
  • Works with issuing agencies and DTE operating departments to negotiate and resolve issues related to DTE work completed in the road right of way.
  • Works closely with Corporate and Government Affairs Regional Managers to assist where needed in resolving construction related issues with communities.
  • Advises Regional Managers of any municipal construction issues in communities that may need escalation.
  • Consults with Regional Managers to determine if there are any issues that may impact proposed or ongoing construction projects.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, political science, liberal arts, urban planning, science or engineering, & the knowledge / capabilities typically acquired through 5+ years of job relevant experience

Preferred

  • Experience in Maximo and SAP

Other Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of contract development/negotiation, project management, employee and public communications skills and job design management.
  • Experience with construction and blueprints/drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledgeable in areas of land use, environmental requirements and restrictions, including wetland laws and ordinances.
  • Requires both negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have an understanding of Transmission and Distribution and Power Plant requirements for both new construction and modification projects.
