Solar Construction Manager / Permitting Specialist

We are seeking a leader to join our team managing projects and a stellar crew who works year-around installing residential to industrial PV solar, off-grid battery banks and hybrid interactive solar systems.

You are comfortable working in an open office environment with your primary role in a desk position with the occasional job-site visit.

Youre someone with permitting experience who knows the ins and outs of jurisdictional codes & regulations.

You have strong communication skills and a desire to engage with your team as well as customers.

Youre a leader who can deliver guidance as well as accept direction.

You know when it’s time to delegate and when to “lead from the front.

You’re someone with solar experience, ideally installation experience to understand what you’ll be asking of your crew.

Position:

*Management Role

*Monday – Friday (6am – 2:30pm)

*In-Person (office located in Sherwood, OR 97140)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preliminary review of projects with customers, and sales consultant if needed
  • Identify potential hidden conditions that may impact project costs work with sales and office staff as support
  • Identify any changes to design and initiate change order procedures if necessary
  • Send mature designs to engineering/drafting company for permit-ready documents
  • Apply for permits and regularly verify permit status from issued to final-approved
  • Verify job account and all parts are on order with vendors
  • Schedule install with customer, vendors (parts delivery to site) and any potential sub-contractors
  • Assist with any trouble-shooting and technical support to field crew as you are qualified to perform
  • Lead weekly safety meetings with field crew and review inspection forms for vehicles and equipment
  • Daily review of project progress and updates to customers and field crew
  • Ongoing communication with clients before, during and after installation
  • Upon completion of installation, review onsite photos of entire install, verify layout, including bonding, wiring, rail installation, and that the installation meets DPI quality control standards
  • Review electrical component of installation including correct placement of labels
  • Schedule final inspection and coordinate with the prevailing jurisdiction time and date of inspection
  • Download and save field inspection report to customer files
  • Provide timely, concise relevant information to the office and field staff on performance. Offer suggestions to improve future installations
  • Assist in OSHA compliance including OSHA 300, 301 logs

Other Responsibilities:

  • Check supplied tools for repair or replacement as field employees need.
  • Verify hours on an assigned job compared with estimated hours bid on job
  • List necessary additional parts required for assigned job completion and dispatch crew to acquire
  • Schedule field crew member monthly to sort and organize excess job parts into inventory from the vehicles and shop

Experience/Requirements:

  • Solar Experience

  • Valid Driver’s License / favorable driving record
  • Ability to review and interpret solar technical specifications and drawings

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
