DNV Energy s Electrical Engineering team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The Senior Engineer s skillset will shape the direction and application of our expertise and the services we provide, as well as complement a group of highly skilled, Senior and Principal level experts making a daily impact in the development, design, and construction of renewable energy and energy transition projects.

Our Electrical Engineering team operates at the cutting edge of the renewables industry providing technical due diligence and advisory services to diverse customers in the North American market and beyond, in support of Independent Engineering (debt and tax equity), M&A transactions, Owner s Engineering, as well as Engineering Consulting Services.

In this role, the Senior Electrical Engineer, depending on skillsets and interest, will perform a wide variety of technical tasks applying experience and training in electrical power systems, electronics, controls, and instrumentation in support of the design, development, and construction of renewable energy and energy transition projects. You will contribute to a dynamic, high performing team by delivering customer value, fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and identifying opportunities for team growth and improvement.

This position can be located in our Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Medford, MA; Oakland, CA; San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; and Seattle, WA offices. Other DNV offices may also be considered.

What You ll do:

  • Contribute as a collaborative subject matter expert on electrical engineering projects, authoring and/or reviewing technical reports alongside a variety of internal teams, including Independent Engineering, Mergers & Acquisition advisory, and Owner s Engineering
  • Contribute to the proposal efforts (scoping and pricing) as well as Project Management of small to medium sized projects for Engineering Consulting Services
  • Review electrical designs as well as interconnection process components and studies for onshore wind, offshore wind, high voltage substation design, and other elements that compose the electric system
  • Perform or review power system studies such as grounding, reactive power, cable ampacity, and preliminary collection system design using computer software and other methods
  • Provide guidance and training in electrical commissioning, safety, and procedures
  • Support business development activities in North America, through engaging in authentic, expertise-driven discussions with DNV s 25+ key accounts and over 100+ renewable energy customers in North America. Work to collaboratively identify opportunities across multiple renewable energy types to offer value-added services to customers
  • Support strategy, market positioning, and develop thought leadership (committee engagements, conference attendance and developing webinars, guides and standards development, whitepapers and/or blog posts)
  • Participate in a wide variety of field and analytical work including in-depth work in the full spectrum of electric power systems, with frequent interaction with experts from the related turbine, energy analysis, environmental, and civil engineering groups

As required by the Pay Transparency laws in Colorado, New York City, California, Washington, and Connecticut, DNV provides a reasonable compensation range for roles that may be hired in those locations. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, New York City, NY, California, Washington, and Connecticut only, the range of starting pay for this role is $112,000 – $165,000.

About you

What is Required

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited four-year university
  • 7+ years experience directly working on renewable energy projects (for example: wind, solar, battery, hydrogen, and/or power electronics)
  • Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, NEC, and CIGRE standards and guidelines
  • Experience with electrical system design and construction including distribution, substation, and electric generation systems, as well as electrical system studies and modeling
  • Strong writing and communication skills for report writing and communication of technical concepts to internal and external clients
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

What is Preferred

  • Willingness to participate in 10-20% domestic travel (US and Canada), with more significant travel opportunities available if desired
  • Knowledge of protection, controls, and SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of bulk electric system operation principals, reliability standards, and regulation
