The Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the Distribution Center and is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership for operations. The selected individual will also be responsible for the operational strategy, business process, and systems for distribution operations, including order fulfilment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation as well as employee development and retention. This role is to effectively and efficiently manage the development and direction of the operational team to support revenue growth, technical productivity and promote high quality customer satisfaction.
As the Distribution Manager, you would be responsible for:
Distribution Center Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the distribution center, ensuring smooth functioning of all activities.
- Manage inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts at the servicing locations and customers.
- Implement efficient receiving, storage, and shipping processes to maintain a well-organized and productive distribution center.
- Monitor and manage equipment and resources to optimize their utilization.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead by example, mentor, and motivate a team of distribution center staff to achieve operational targets and maintain a high level of performance.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to enhance employee productivity and growth.
- Foster a positive work culture that emphasizes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Distribution Coordination
- Collaborate with each location, customer, and transportation partners to ensure timely delivery and replenishment of battery inventory.
- Identify potential supply chain issues and work proactively to resolve them, minimizing disruptions to distribution center operations.
Inventory Management
- Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory records and identify discrepancies.
- Implement a system for proper classification, labeling, and storage of batteries to facilitate easy retrieval and minimize the risk of damage.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that all outgoing batteries meet industry standards and customer expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety protocols, and company policies throughout the distribution process.
Process Optimization
- Continuously assess and analyze distribution center processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall performance.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflow and reduce operating expenses.
Reporting and Analysis
- Provide feedback with regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including inventory levels, order fulfillment rates, and accuracy metrics
- Analyze data to identify trends, make data-driven decisions, and develop action plans for improvement.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field and/or relevant working experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Distribution Center Management, preferably in the battery or electronics industry.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and distribution logistics.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a team of warehouse personnel.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software applications.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements pertaining to the storage and handling of batteries.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with internal teams and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement initiatives and implement best practices.
- Ability to pass a criminal record background check.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
