Delta Electronics (Americas) Ltd. is seeking a power system engineer to join our advanced Milan M. Jovanović Power Electronics Lab in Research Triangle Park, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and verify ideas to enhance the performance of next-generation power electronics-based systems across various applications. You will focus on mastering grid code requirements from every US system operator and support local engineers in designing power systems and liaising with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

· Stay up-to-date with US grid code requirements, ensuring compliance in all integration projects.

· Analyze and interpret grid code requirements to guide power system design topology.

· Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate energy storage systems with solar PV, understanding, meeting grid code, and customer specifications.

· Provide expert guidance to customers on system integration, grid compliance, and power system design.

· Provide grid following and grid forming design topology.

· Coordinate with transmission, distribution system operators, contractors, certifying bodies, and other stakeholders during compliance studies, preparing technical models and documents.

· Perform preliminary power system studies (e.g., power flow, short circuit, stability, harmonics analysis, protection schemes, HV power panel, LV panel, communication protocol) to support compliance and design.

· Effectively communicate with clients to support their testing or compliance needs and resolve issues.

· Support troubleshooting and continuous development of Delta’s grid products based on evolving codes and standards.

· Work with the product design team to incorporate power system requirements into product specifications and influence system architecture.

Skills and Experience:

· Strong professional experience and knowledge of grid planning, US grid code compliance, and regulatory standards for power system performance.

· Familiarity with grid-forming operating modes and algorithms is a plus.

· Direct experience with utility-scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and products is a plus.

· Familiarity with energy market operations and regulations.

· Understanding of standards for BESS and solar inverter systems.

· Knowledge of generators, transformers, circuit breakers, protection relay, generator protection, voltage regulation, governor control, capacitors, synchronous condensers, power electronic converters for ESS, wind, and solar.

· Knowledge in power system analysis using tools like PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, DigSilent, MATLAB/Simulink.

· Knowledge in power system of program algorithm using Python, C/C++.

· Knowledge of inverter topologies, PWM modulation strategies, and control theory.

· Strong project management and collaboration skills.

· Knowledge of Power Substation Automation communication IEC61850.

· Knowledge of IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, UL9540, and UL9540A.

Qualifications:

· B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical or Electric Power Engineering.

· 3 Years experience in one of the related areas such as renewable energy integration, large-scale solar power, BESS, Substation Automation, regulatory compliance, etc…

· Candidates should possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and be self-motivated to work independently or as part of a team.
