Job Description

The Canopy Development Manager is responsible for the development of relationships and experiences that lead to the deployment of CSF Solar Canopies through our network of contractors and solar professionals.

This position is responsible for establishing and delivering on revenue targets for the CSF Solar Canopy products. It requires the ability to develop and maintain lasting relationships with solar installers, general contractors, and other organizations involved in clean energy, building, and energy efficiency projects and programs. The right candidate will be capable of facilitating the efficient marketing, tracking and monitoring of product sales to those customers. 

Communication skills and job flexibility are critical to this position. We are a small team firmly committed to advancing the causes of social justice, clean energy, sustainability and the advancement of nonprofits as an important and viable segment of the clean energy economy. The foundation exists to serve our mission and the sales of our canopies exist to serve the foundation.

Couillard Solar Foundation is a small nonprofit located in Deerfield, WI (just a few minutes from Madison, WI). Our mission is to advance the implementation of solar technology in WI through grants to other Wisconsin nonprofits and education about solar power, clean energy and sustainability. We support our mission through the sale of solar technology, grants and donations.

 

Responsibilities

Sales Planning & Management

  • Work with the Executive Director and team to develop and help execute a sales/marketing plan.
  • Work with the CSF team to identify canopy sales and development goals, plan the achievement of those goals, and then execute and revise that plan. 
  • Work with the Executive Team to identify and implement pricing and go to market strategies for the CSF Solar Canopy.
  • Develop and leverage strategic relationships with industry and others to help the organization achieve its goals.
  • Create and maintain a canopy sales and partner development pipeline 
  • Effectively communicate CSF’s mission, products and process to the public
  • Use dashboards to quickly evaluate key metrics including completed and potential sales.

Communication

  • Meet regularly with the Director to discuss priorities, progress and metrics. 
  • Meet regularly with the team to discuss issues and opportunities concerning canopy sales and other relevant issues related to the foundation 
  • Assist with the development and updating of sales related materials 
  • Work with the team to assure that all sales related activities are compatible with the mission and primary functions of the organization.
  • Train new employees and interns on relevant aspects of the sales process

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend CSF related events, presenting to and engaging with the public upon request.
  • Accurately represent all aspects of the foundation and our mission to the public and peers.
  • Assist with order preparation, inventory management and other canopy sales and delivery related activities as required to meet the needs of our partners and their customers 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or executive team
  • Meet regularly with the Director to discuss priorities, progress and metrics 

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience working with contractors in a sales or consultative capacity required. 
  • Working knowledge and or experience with distributed (behind the meter) solar required.
  • Ability to deliver effective and efficient communication to a variety of stakeholders is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully hit sales or development targets in the clean energy or related sector.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to manage and monitor progress on a variety of projects. 
  • Basic computer skills required and experience using Google Workspace applications is a plus. 
  • Transportation to and from the CSF office as well as project and customer locations is required.
  • Also desirable – A passion for social justice, clean energy, sustainability, and climate change mitigation

Position Details

  • Salary is commensurate with experience, and in the range of $60,000-$70,000 base with additional per-project bonuses for all canopy and timber frame sales. 
  • Benefits include 15 days paid time off per year and 7 Paid holidays
  • Bonus program based on successful sale and final payment for all canopy sales.
  • Work hours: Full time (40 hours), Monday-Friday (flexible start/end times)
  • Occasional evenings/weekends for public facing and trade events required.
  • Location: Our offices are at 10 Liberty Street, Deerfield, WI 53531 – this is primarily an office based position, though some limited work from home (WFH) is permitted with manager approval after the 90 day probationary period.
