This leadership position requires a deep understanding of project finance, capital markets, tax equity, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) within the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structuring and securing financing for large-scale energy projects, including tax equity investments, managing relationships with financial institutions, and executing complex transactions to support the company’s expansion and financial goals. The role requires the candidate to be on-site in our New York City office three days a week, with flexibility for remote work on other days.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Finance:

  • Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of project finance transactions, including debt, equity, and hybrid structures.
  • Oversee the financial modeling and analysis to assess project viability, returns, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with development, legal, and technical teams to ensure alignment on financial and contractual terms.

Capital Markets:

  • Develop and implement capital-raising strategies to support the company’s growth initiatives, including equity, debt, and tax equity offerings.
  • Manage relationships with investment banks, private equity firms, institutional investors, tax equity investors, and other financial partners.
  • Monitor market trends, investor sentiment, and economic conditions to optimize timing and terms of capital markets transactions.

Tax Equity:

  • Structure and negotiate tax equity investments to optimize financial outcomes for renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with legal, accounting, and tax advisors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maximize tax benefits.
  • Maintain relationships with tax equity investors and stay informed on developments in tax equity markets and related legislation.

Mergers & Acquisitions:

  • Identify, evaluate, and execute M&A opportunities that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration processes for acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless transaction execution and post-merger integration.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the executive team, advising on capital structure, investment opportunities, and financial risk management.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in project finance, capital markets, tax equity, and M&A within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record of leading and executing large-scale financing, tax equity, and M&A transactions.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to assess complex financial structures and risks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Deep understanding of the energy market, particularly renewable energy, and familiarity with regulatory and policy environments affecting the sector.
