ASSOCIATE MANAGER, RESIDENTIAL SOLAR PROGRAMS

SUMMARY:

The Connecticut Green Bank (hereafter “Green Bank”) is seeking an Associate Manager to join its Portfolio Management team. The Associate Manager will be responsible for the ongoing management of the Green Bank’s closed portfolios of residential solar lease and loan projects. Duties include frequent external communication and collaboration, including with homeowners participating in the programs and/or their representatives, program servicers, operations and maintenance (“O&M”) partners, solar contractors, and more.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Individual responsibilities may include:

  • Communicating with homeowners (existing and future) to address program and/or system-related questions, particularly around production and performance;
  • Managing the resolution of lease or loan related issues including but not limited to property damage, underperformance, and warranties;
  • Tracking and reporting payment delinquencies, write-offs, and terminations;
  • Performing financial calculations and cost/benefit analyses for decision making;
  • Coordinating with multiple O&M providers on system repairs, including tracking and following-up to ensure completion of deliverables;
  • Leading financing agreement-related activities, including transfers, buyouts, subordinations, and terminations;
  • Drafting and reviewing work orders and/or contracts to initiate system repairs;
  • Drafting program documents for internal review, including amendments and addendums;
  • Monitoring and submitting program-related invoices and payment requests; and,
  • Related duties as required.

The overall duties of this position will be refined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the individual hired and the ongoing needs of the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The following minimum qualifications in knowledge, skill, and ability are required:

  • Familiarity with residential solar terms and concepts, particularly solar leases and loans;
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively, including explaining solar photovoltaic system production and performance to homeowners and/or their representatives with clarity, patience, and professionalism;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with emphasis on customer service;
  • Ability to lead the management of solar contracts including transfers, buyouts, subordinations, terminations, warranties, and insurance claims;
  • Ability to identify and summarize key details for management review;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the initiative and ability to multitask and work with limited supervision;
  • Ability to work efficiently on assigned tasks independently and as part of a small team;
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results in a challenging, fast-paced environment;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

General Experience:

  • Minimum 4-7 years of relevant work experience, particularly focused on managing and operating residential solar projects. Familiarity with solar financing, particularly leases and loans, is preferred.

Substitutions Allowed:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of general experience. In this situation, the candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant full-time work experience.

The Green Bank will determine if this position will be filled at the Associate Manager or Manager level based on the experience and qualifications of the individual selected.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

  • This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Portfolio Management.
  • It is expected that the position will be based in the Green Bank’s Hartford, CT office, with opportunities for some remote work.
  • State of CT benefits package, including generous time-off, health insurance covering medical, dental and vision, retirement, tuition reimbursement for continuing education, and paid leave.
  • Salary commensurate with experience, ranging between $80,000 – $95,000.
