Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.

CFS collaborates with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with groundbreaking new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. To implement this plan, we are looking to add dedicated people to the team who treat people well, improve our work by adding multifaceted perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have achieved outstanding results through a range of pursuits, and have skills and experience related to this role.

We are seeking an EHSS Training and Support Specialist to join our team. Reporting directly to the
VP of EHSS, this role will support environmental, health, safety, and security initiatives across CFS. The
primary function of this role is instructional design. This role will work with subject matter experts to
develop interactive and engaging e-learning courses. The role will also provide additional
communications and systems support to the EHSS team.

This role may be based in Devens MA, Milpitas, CA, or remote.

This team member will:

  • With input from SMEs maintain a complete and up to date EHSS Training Matrix
  • Assist subject matter experts (SMEs) convert technical content into engaging and interactive training
  • Develop and design training programs using various authoring tools (Articulate 360, PowerPoint)
  • Administer delivery and management of e-learning content in the LMS (Docebo)
  • Collaborate with SMEs to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and up to date
  • Implement instructional design best practices to create engaging and effective learning experiences
  • Evaluate training program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms
  • Utilize a variety of multimedia tools to enhance training delivery
  • Develop EHSS training and awareness collateral to include guides, resources, posters, videos, etc.
  • Evaluate and manage external EHSS training vendor relationships
  • Maintain records of training and certifications for instructor lead, on-the-job, and 3 rd party training
  • Track training compliance to encourage and facilitate on-time completion of mandatory training
  • Develop and maintain internal EHSS team sites (Confluence)
  • Manage and maintain EHS management software (Benchmark Gensuite) ensuring the system is functional, up-to-date, and meet organizational needs
  • Analyze incident and good catch data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Generate reports and dashboards to provide insights and support decision-making processes
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
  • Develop and implement system enhancements to improve user experience and data accuracy

The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 10+ years of experience implementing and overseeing aspects related to EHSS instructional design and training program implementation in a fast-paced technical environment

Additional preferred experience and/or qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree with an emphasis in communication, educational development, training, human resource management, health and safety, business administration, or a related field and five years of directly related work experience
  • Proven experience in instructional design and EHS systems management
  • Working knowledge of EHS regulations and standards
  • Proficiency in e-learning development tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate) and LMS management
  • Experience with EHS software systems (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Enablon)
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Certification in instructional design
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision

Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefits. The actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
