Director of Community Solar Job Description

Reports to: President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: Competitive based on experience

WHO WE ARE: Co-op Power is a multi-race, multi-class, and multi-generation solar equity cooperative with a deep commitment to building community ownership of clean energy in New England and New York.

WHAT WELL ASK OF YOU:

Develop and operate community owned solar in partnership with our Co-op’s 1,200 household members and partner organizations.

  • Work with Community Energy Cooperatives in Co-op Power’s network to identify community criteria for solar project development, find great solar sites, grow project pipelines and build solar plus storage projects.
  • Support basic design, develop preliminary financial projections, secure sites, hire and oversee EPC partners, support interconnection, incentive, and permitting applications and secure financing.
  • Manage solar assets and solar subscription programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years management experience required; Participatory Management style required
  • 2 years experience with solar energy project development, solar asset management, or solar finance required.
  • Comfort being in low income communities and comfort talking with lawyers, investors and lenders.
  • Experience with community organizing, education and/or membership development a plus.
  • Expertise in excel required. Comfort using computer software and hardware.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Chinese a plus.
  • Familiarity with climate change, peak oil, environmental justice, energy efficiency, renewable energy technology, solidarity economies and a Just Transition preferred; related work experience preferred.
  • Your location is within 30 miles of New York, Springfield, Worcester or Boston.

MANAGEMENT AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS

Strong organizational and program management skills are required.

REASONING ABILITY
Excellent verbal and mathematical reasoning required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 – $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 40 per week
