Job Description

Our client, a leading technology company that provides solutions for industrial batteries in the energy and motive industries, is seeking a talented and experienced Director of Sales Operations to join their sales and commercial team. The ideal candidate will work closely with and support the Business Development and Project Management/Execution teams and will be responsible for managing Initiation-to-Order (ITO) activities including proposal development, contracting, and coordinating a successful hand-off to the project team for execution.

The Director of Sales Operations should be able to effectively devise processes that meet the demands of both a rapidly changing industry and a high-growth business. You will be part of a fast paced, exciting growth environment as our client scales with the opportunities in the marketplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all ITO activities including pipeline and CRM management, opportunity management, proposal development, contracting, and handoff to Services.
  • Develop proposals for Battery Energy Storage System installation & commissioning services, operations & maintenance services, and decommissioning services.
  • Develop proposals for the organizations’ lifecycle services to the Battery Energy Storage and EV Industries.
  • Develop proposals for our client’s custom software solution.
  • Engage with customers to obtain proposal feedback and further competitive offering.
  • Share feedback with the engineering and ales team to identify additional opportunities to deliver value and create incremental revenue streams.
  • Ensure excellence in all commercial operational areas.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years relevant experience in commercial sales, sales operations, or sales management.
  • Experience with supplier and sub-contractor evaluation, selection, and management.
  • Ability to effectively work as an individual contributor, but also coordinate and work with a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to research and develop solutions to customer needs and communicate those solutions to the customer.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work with customers.

Desirable:

  • Sales Ops experience in an on-site technical services sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, interpret, and present data.
  • Knowledge of battery standards, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Project and people management experience.

Travel & Location

  • The position location is flexible but may involve 25% travel to industrial trade events, customer sites, and the organizations’ HQ in Chicagoland.
