The Senior Vice President of Land Operations will be responsible for developing and implementing a $3 billion annual North American operations spend, covering critical logistics functions including Rail, Truck, Depot, Storage, and M&R. This role involves managing all inland operations for CMA CGM Group in North America, ensuring efficient and effective execution across the region. The Senior Vice President will also collaborate closely with CMA CGM Corporate Headquarters in Marseille, France to define and implement evolving operational strategies and missions in North America, aligning with the company’s overarching goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement cost savings initiative strategies for operations in North America
  • Develop strategies for an effective inland network and product in North America that accommodates changing vessel sizes and deployments.
  • Manage costs for the inland network that achieves the goals of the CMA CGM Group.
  • Ensure that CMA CGM Group in North America has an effective and low cost intermodal and equipment network.
  • Develop strategy and implement standards and policies for inventory levels, chassis utilization, and equipment tracking.
  • Develop strategy and implement standards for CMA CGM chassis fleet, including chassis pool management to ensure the lowest cost and highest utilization possible.
  • Develop strategies for reducing equipment storage costs and container dwell times.
  • Develop strategy and implement standards for the successful management of the CMA CGM Domestic product.
  • Develop and implement trucking standards that ensure on time door delivery and pickup
  • Develop and implement rail billing standards that ensure on time rail billing
  • Develop a network of cost effective and service sensitive motor carrier vendors
  • Develop and implement a cost effective and efficient North American M&R program
  • Establish quality and productivity improvement initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Exceptional knowledge of U.S. marine terminal and intermodal operations.

Cross-functional leader who can develop and lead an already established and well positioned company to achieve higher performance and growth objectives.

Demonstrate a successful track record of operational performance, productivity and cost savings initiatives.

Demonstrate an entrepreneurial style and be a visionary and strategic thinker.

Possesses influencing and negotiating skills to reach agreements and build consensus among parties with sometimes disparate or conflicting positions.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills in order to effectively communicate at an executive level.

Strong business acumen and ability to effectively manage diverse relationships and cultures while maintaining presence and poise. Can be tough-minded when necessary.

Possesses strong analytical skills and abilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree required. MBA and/or Maritime/Logistics degree preferred.

A senior executive with a minimum of 15 years of experience in Operations at a senior leadership role.

Experience managing in an organized labor environment a plus.

A proven track record of strong operational performance (to include innovation) and a successful track record of managing in a high growth environment. He or she must have a meaningful history of developing strategic relationships with key customers and vendors at the highest levels.
