Job Title: Field Applications Engineer – Energy Storage
Position Overview:
This Applications Engineer/Technician role is a central figure within the rapidly expanding company. The position is fast-paced and dynamic, where you will be an essential member of the product management team responsible for overseeing the company’s Energy Storage product strategies and offerings across North America. Acting as the technical focal point for utility-scale, commercial and industrial inverter/system products, you will contribute to product/system trade-off studies that support the company’s multi-generational product roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design system solutions tailored for the North American Energy Storage market.
- Monitor market needs from key accounts and establish a communication channel between R&D and customers.
- Regularly assess market conditions to strategize competitively and influence R&D for technical program adjustments.
- Lead pre-marketing activities and promote new technical solutions.
- Offer technical support to the sales team on PV system solutions, serving as a technical advisor to customer engineering teams.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows and marketing events to boost brand recognition.
- Manage and support internal technical documentation control.
- Serve as the liaison with the product team, channeling customer feedback and applications to meet US regulatory standards.
- Interpret standards like UL, IEC, NEC to guide product development.
- Support field service teams in system troubleshooting and provide engineering expertise when necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s in electrical engineering from an accredited institution or 1 year field service experience in BESS and Energy Storage for utilities.
- Requires ability to physically bend, stoop, sit, stand for 8 hours, walk, reach, climb ladders/steps, & lift up to 50lbs.
- Travel and onsite management of 70% plus monthly including weekends.
- Experience with Energy Storage systems for utilities is plus.
- Exposure to EPC project engineering, product design, and system-level trade-offs is beneficial.
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving abilities with a track record of leading engineering projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of interfacing across functions and at all levels.
