Position Overview:

The Director of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and optimizing all operational activities for Clean Tech. This individual will oversee daily operations, including service delivery, workforce management, quality control, and client satisfaction. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Operations will play a key role in scaling the company’s operations, driving efficiency, and ensuring that services are delivered to the highest standards while adhering to sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with Clean Tech’s goals for growth, sustainability, and service excellence.
  • Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, and delivery of cleaning services to ensure efficient and timely execution.
  • Collaborate with senior management to set operational objectives, KPIs, and performance targets.
  • Ensure that all operations adhere to industry best practices, health and safety regulations, and company standards for sustainability.

2. Service Delivery & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality cleaning services across all client locations.
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure client expectations are exceeded and service agreements are met.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cleaning tasks, equipment use, and sustainable practices, ensuring adherence to green cleaning standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess service quality, safety, and compliance with sustainability goals.

3. Staff Management & Development:

  • Lead, coach, and manage a large and diverse team of operational staff, including supervisors, cleaning technicians, and support personnel.
  • Develop and implement recruitment, training, and retention programs to ensure that staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and environmental responsibility within the operations team.
  • Create a talent development plan, promoting staff advancement and professional growth.

4. Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing any operational concerns, resolving issues, and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with the sales and account management teams to understand client needs and customize service delivery accordingly.
  • Work with the client relations team to ensure all service contracts are executed efficiently and meet client specifications.

5. Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cleaning processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall service delivery.
  • Lead the adoption of innovative cleaning technologies and sustainable cleaning products, reducing the environmental footprint of operations.
  • Implement lean operational practices and other methodologies to eliminate waste, improve resource efficiency, and boost productivity.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and new technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance Clean Tech’s operational capabilities.

6. Sustainability & Compliance:

  • Ensure all operations align with Clean Tech’s commitment to environmental sustainability, driving the use of eco-friendly products and technologies.
  • Implement and enforce green cleaning practices, reducing the use of harmful chemicals, conserving water, and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal environmental regulations, as well as health and safety standards.
  • Develop and track metrics for sustainability performance, reporting on key initiatives and their impact.

7. Financial Management & Budgeting:

  • Manage the operational budget, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with the company’s financial goals.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality or sustainability commitments.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to forecast operational expenses, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, taking corrective action as needed to meet budgetary goals.

8. Vendor & Supply Chain Management:

  • Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment, supplies, and eco-friendly cleaning products.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, sustainability commitments, and high-quality products.
  • Ensure that supply chain processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with Clean Tech’s sustainability goals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Facilities Management, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Operations) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in operations management, preferably within the commercial cleaning, facilities management, or related industries.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role, with a track record of managing large teams and multiple locations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial cleaning services, including best practices, regulatory compliance, and sustainability standards.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in managing large-scale service operations, implementing operational improvements, and utilizing management software (e.g., workforce management, scheduling, ERP systems).
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and cost management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with green cleaning certifications such as Green Seal, LEED, or ISSA’s Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS).
  • Familiarity with eco-friendly cleaning products and technologies.
  • Experience in managing client relationships and service contracts.
