Job Description

The Energy Advocate leads the City of Watertowns outreach to residents and small businesses in Watertown to increase participation in Mass Save energy efficiency programs and other City-led clean energy programs, which save people money and energy while making our community more sustainable. As Energy Advocate, you will build partnerships and foster community to increase local knowledge about Mass Save programs and to support energy program enrollment and participation.

Candidates for this position will demonstrate self-motivation and creativity by leading public engagement with residents and small businesses about energy efficiency and clean energy programs through events, presentations, local media, and other strategies. This position actively communicates with customers to guide them through Mass Save and other energy programs. The Energy Advocate serves as an ambassador for customers by providing feedback through program surveys and tools to remove barriers to program participation. As an Energy Advocate, you will be trained and supported by our team as well as the Mass Save Program Team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in environmental sciences, communications, marketing or a related discipline highly desirable. At least one years experience in a professional capacity, preferably in a public-facing position. Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in energy sustainability programs and community engagement. The ability to understand, analyze and communicate about complex programs along with excellent written and presentation skills are essential.

SALARY & HOURS: This is a union position with a starting salary of$57,513 annually. Hiring above Step 1 is dependent on qualifications and experience. The work week is 37.5 hours (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8:30-5:00 p.m.; Tuesdays: 8:30-7:00 p.m.; Fridays 8:30 to 12:30 p.m.).

This position is eligible for flexible work hours and one day of remote work.
