Job Description

CEEs Energy Counselor position is part of a team assisting customers throughout the Twin Cities metro area in improving the energy efficiency of their homes. CEE is seeking motivated individuals who are skilled at working with people and providing high quality services to customers. No prior residential services experience is required; thorough on-the-job training is provided for CEEs Energy Counselors.
The Energy Counselor is responsible for working together with other team members to provide in-home residential energy services in support of CEEs Residential Programs. The Energy Counselor is the primary point of contact for the customer and is responsible for establishing a good rapport. Home visits include an assessment of energy use and on-site installations of energy-saving products like LED light bulbs and energy efficient shower heads.

Responsibilities
  • Work with a team member to conduct home visits according to established protocols.
  • Manage time to complete visits according to schedule.
  • Assume the role of Lead or Installer for Home Energy Squad (HES) Install visits.
  • Conduct product installations for HES and multifamily visits (primarily LED light bulbs, energy efficient shower heads, weatherstripping, and thermostats)
  • Consult with customers about energy goals, questions, and concerns.
  • Teach customers about energy use and encouraging low-cost and no-cost energy-saving measures.
  • Communicate with coworkers throughout visits to discuss upgrade recommendations.
  • Discuss upgrade recommendations with customers and gauge the customers interest.
  • Encourage customers to complete additional recommended treatments by using the Energy Advisor service.
  • Accurately record and enter data into our tracking database.
  • Accurately manage product inventory.
  • Drive a Home Energy Squad van.
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks and responsibilities during office time.
  • Assist with our marketing and outreach efforts.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate policies and procedures, attending trainings as requested, and reading company-wide emails and correspondence.
  • Ongoing participation in our Energy Counselor training program
  • Other duties as assigned or apparent
Qualifications/Job Requirements
  • Display genuine interest in residential energy efficiency and a willingness to expand your knowledge base on the subject.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer relations and communication skills.
  • Showcase strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work in team settings.
  • Possess basic computer and keyboard competency and show proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Be capable of lifting 50 pounds and performing physical tasks such as carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Hold a valid drivers license and maintain a good driving record, and an ability to occasionally travel overnight to conferences and out-of-state work trips.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $19.50
