We are seeking an Industrial Outreach Lead to build a strong pipeline of energy efficiency projects at utility customer sites. The Industrial Outreach Lead is responsible for building relationships with industrial utility customers and facilitating opportunities for incentive-funded projects that improve energy efficiency.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintaining knowledge of utility program offerings and understand how they can serve program participants, including features, advantages, and benefits
  • Applying fundamental sales processes, procedures, methods, and techniques to develop and manage pipelines of prospective utility program projects
  • Identifying eligible prospects by various means including, but not limited to prospecting databases and market research.
  • Actively cold call new potential participants and suppliers/contractors with the goal of increasing energy efficiency program participation
  • Meeting with industrial customers and conduct site visits to identify energy efficiency project opportunities
  • Following-up with prospects to achieve their interest for participating in appropriate utility programs
  • Managing multiple prospects and leads, relationships, and initiatives in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Utilizing a CRM system to track progress, capture leads and prioritize outreach efforts
  • Meeting pipeline development and participation targets, monitor progress, and provide updates
  • Preparing weekly and monthly activity reports and track progress towards program recruiting goals

This is a full-time, exempt position located in our Park Ridge, IL office and reports to the Midwest Program Director. The role requires regular travel (15-20%) to industrial customers in the northern Illinois region. When not on-site, work can be completed remotely or in Cascades Park Ridge office.
Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 2-4 years of customer service or sales experience
  • Experience working in the industrial sector with a diverse set of stakeholders such as customers, vendors, suppliers, and contractors

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

  • Ability to build and maintain strong industry networks and connect people to opportunities
  • Experience with technical aspects of key energy-using sub-systems, including, but not limited to compressed air, lighting, pumping, and refrigeration
  • Self-directed and able to work independently as well as collaborate with others to drive execution, solve problems creatively and foster innovation among teams
  • Strong focus on customer engagement with the ability to build trusting long-term working relationships
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. The ability to listen, motivate, and empathize is critical
  • Critical thinking skills with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to gain and apply an understanding of industrial customer priorities, concerns, and motivations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems
  • Proficient with MS Office with an understanding and use of SharePoint features and reporting abilities
  • Experience with and/or ability to learn a CRM system
  • An understanding of project financial metrics and how projects are sold at the various levels of an organization

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans), vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. New for 2024 we are excited to add an additional wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).

The salary range for this position, which encompasses two levels because we are open to various skills/experience levels, in Park Ridge, Illinois is $75,705 – $111,930. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
