About This Opportunity

We are seeking an Energy Efficiency Engineering Manager.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the startup and oversight of the Southern Cal Edison (SCE) SEM Engineering team, including workload planning and team member training and development. The Engineering Manager is responsible for supervising all activities, processes, systems, and procedures required to meet the mission and profitability goals of the SCE SEM Engineering group. This position will be responsible for supporting the startup of the SCE SEM program and building an engineering team with sole focus on the support of this program. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for the training and development of engineers on this team. The Engineering Manager is a player-coach, overseeing the engineering team while also delivering SEM tech lead support for the SCE SEM program. The SCE SEM Engineering team will support both the Industrial and Commercial sectors of this new program.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Build a team of engineers to support the SCE SEM program as SEM tech and modeling leads meeting Cascade standards in engineering.
  • Deliver SEM tech and modeling lead support for the SCE SEM program as a player coach.
  • Oversight of Engineering operations, including managing deliverables, billable targets, and key team metrics (on-time delivery % and budget utilization %).
  • Collaborate with both SCE SEM Program Managers (Industrial and Commercial) to staff and manage team for program success.
  • Mentor engineers to deepen both technical and customer engagement skills to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Assess and develop new key performance indicators to continuously improve overall team performance.
  • Organize engineers, assign workload, and keep operations running smoothly and on track to meet Company and client goals. Pull in outside expertise as needed for targeted industry or system support.
  • Coordinate with other Cascade teams to share, identify, and document overall SEM tech lead best practices within Cascade.
  • Work with Learning & Development staff to coordinate and disseminate training for direct reports.
  • Balance workloads of team during any dips in SCE SEM program workload with ultimate prioritization on program success.
  • Develop commercial SEM delivery expertise for the SCE program. Also share out learnings and work with others at Cascade to advance our expertise in delivering commercial SEM across Cascade.
  • Technical quality control of technical lead subcontractors
  • Engage with CA statewide SEM best practices working group.
  • Respond to CPUC dispositions related to the new SCE SEM program.
  • Support SEM program recruiting meetings and participant onboarding.
  • Gain understanding of how to use total system benefit (TSB) to program advantage.

This is a full-time, exempt position located in Southern California. We are open to non-local applicants who are able to travel. Travel for this role is dependent on location of the candidate. For a candidate based in southern CA, travel is expected to be 25% or less with most travel consisting of day trips to participant sites in SCE territory. For a candidate based elsewhere travel will be 25-35% with flights to SCE territory expected for typical in person SEM events as well as for mentoring and meeting with team in person.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher with a technical focus, e.g. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a similar, applicable field.
  • Experience in industrial and commercial settings and with industrial and commercial clients.
  • Experience with project management, management coaching, and consulting.
  • Past supervisory responsibilities or significant mentoring experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial and/or commercial energy efficiency or equivalent engineering.
  • Demand Side Management (DSM) project engineering experience.
  • Experience as an SEM tech lead, preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. The salary range for this position in Southern California is $127,600 – $171,600/year. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
