Job Description

Your Role at Cabot:
Cabot Corporation has an exciting opporunity for a Safety and Health Specialist located at our Hopkinsville, KY manufacturing plant. This role will provide basic analysis and technical expertise to department and site managers in a wide range of safety and disciplines. This position will also support implementation of Safety and Health programs with appropriate management direction and oversight. The Safety and Health Specialist will assist site work groups with implementation and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Safety & Health
  • Promote implementation of Safety and Health management systems for the site. Collect, evaluate and distribute site Safety and Health management information. Manage databases and document record keeping required for assuring compliance with SH regulations and standards.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of site SH training. Encourage, monitor and train employees in the use of safety equipment and in the safe use of tools and machinery.
  • Advise and coach employees of OSHA and Cabot standards and methods to comply.
  • Conduct meetings and collaborate with all plant personnel to assure understanding of required work group safety activities and performance expectations.
  • Drive accurate and effective Safe Work Permitting and Job Safety Analysis. Conduct assessments for determination of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hazard mitigation.
  • Assist in developing and updating all levels of training. This includes training others in a small or large group setting.

Incident & Emergency Response
  • Support incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Monitor and implement emergency response plans. Recommend changes to policies and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and releases.
  • Assist Emergency Response and Medical Response teams. Provide case management for injuries.

Other
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
  • Participates on internal site committees and teams, as appropriate.

What You Will Bring to Cabot:

  • Demonstrated technical capabilities in safety and health disciplines.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment, strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Planning, organization, and analytical skills; decision-making and problem-solving skills. Self-starter.
  • Prefer experience with training adults in the workplace.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (WORD, EXCEL, Power Point, TEAMS)
Education/Experience
  • Bachelors degree in safety or related discipline and a minimum one year of relevant experience; or Associate degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or High School diploma with a minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Any certifications in Health or Safety is a plus (OHST, ASP, CSP, ASP, etc.)
