IT Project Manager – Network Transformation

Fully Remote

12-Month-Contract

$70 – 75/hr. DOE

The Architecture and Engineering Project Delivery team at one of our largest Fortune 200 Energy Generation clients is actively seeking an IT Project Manager to support their Business Network Transformation project. The Network Transformation project is a 3-year initiative designed to replace and refresh the business-facing routers, switches and wireless access points at our client’s nuclear plants. The routers, switches and access points are being replaced with new Cisco technology and hardware.

An IT Project Manager is needed during the installation/cut-over period of this Transformation project to develop project schedules, manage project milestones, and ensure all remaining nuclear plants undergo a successful transformation. The ideal Project Manager will have expertise in tracking budgets, managing project schedule(s), and driving resolution on open action items. The selected Project Manager will also be open to traveling on as-needs basis, be detail-oriented and passionate about the intersection between engineering and technology. Qualifications:

  • 6+ yrs. of experience with functional Project Management.
  • Project Management within an Energy discipline or Nuclear domain is a plus!
  • Experience with project management methodologies (specifically Waterfall/Linear).
  • Professional experience with project tracking through MS Projects or similar tool.
  • Professional experience building project schedules/critical paths in MSFT Planner, Smart Sheet or MS Projects.
  • Proven success of managing an enterprise-wide project, project schedule, budget, and resource allocation plan.
  • Basic experience in ServiceNow or similar.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus!
  • Understanding and experience working through all phases of the project management lifecycle (ideation, planning, design, build and close).
  • Ability to identify project risk threshold.
  • Understanding of change management principles associated with new technology implementations/enhancements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, communication, grammatical and organizational skills.
  • Minimal travel requirement to nuclear plants on an as-needs basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and create the Network Transformation project schedule.
  • Tracking of schedule and budget with collaboration of Nuclear and Network Transformation project team.
  • Tracking action items and following up with the appropriate individuals to get resolution.
  • Manage inherent risk and risk threshold, communicating positive and negative risks to management team.
  • Ensuring issues are quickly identified and raised up for support in resolution.
  • Build change management communication processes.
  • Gather appropriate data (names, data sets, contacts) necessary for documentation and recording chain of responsibility within the project.
  • Provide weekly updates to business units, stakeholders, and upper management.
  • Implement continuous improvements associated with the project to support effortless customer experiences.
