The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about designing carbon-free resilient energy systems? What if you could help support the decarbonization of mechanical systems for critical mission facilities? As an electrical engineer focusing on facility electrification, you understand the intricacy involved with developing innovative solutions to effectively integrate with existing complex energy systems. We are looking for an electrical engineer to aid in these efforts who has a background in facility electrical systems and who can provide meaningful insight into electrical system assessments and developments for building electrification projects. That knowledge is key when it comes to producing conceptual designs for electrical infrastructure upgrades associated with the transition to the electrification of heating and cooling systems.
At Booz Allen, you will help our clients design, build, renovate, and adapt their facilities using new electrical equipment for heating and cooling. These facility upgrades will impact existing facility electrical distribution systems which already may be stressed by mission growth or implementation of electric vehicle charging. Your analysis will detail the impact of efficiency and capacity on those infrastructure.
On our team, you will use your technical knowledge to help design and model those systems. You will assess the tradeoffs of installation-wide electrified heating and cooling systems by performing a detailed analysis of the existing electrical infrastructure, existing electrical load profile, and heating and cooling load requirements, and provide solutions in the areas of utility service upgrades and electrical infrastructure upgrades to resourcefully increase energy capacity. We will look to you to share your electrical engineering expertise through collaboration with a small team of project engineers, mechanical engineers, and financial analysts. This is a chance to use your experience-based knowledge in electrical engineering while broadening your skillset into areas like thermal systems, deep energy retrofits, and energy modeling. This position will require travel between 10 – 15% of the time.
Join us. The world cant wait.
You Have:
5+ years of experience with design in the energy or electrical engineering field
Experience with low voltage (<690V) distribution system design or operation
Experience with implementation and management of electric heating systems, including air or water source heat pump and electric boiler
