We are looking for a Principal Automation Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Director, Equipment Engineering – Automation and based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.
As a Principal Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy production. You will lead the development of cutting-edge manufacturing tools, techniques, and machinery, driving innovation and efficiency in our production processes. Your expertise will be essential in optimizing costs, enhancing safety, and ensuring the high performance of our fuel cell systems.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Innovate: Spearhead the development of next-generation manufacturing tool sets and inspection techniques.
- Collaborate: Identify and partner with external suppliers to bring prototype designs to life.
- Optimize: Conduct rigorous cost-benefit analyses and ROI assessments for proposed automation projects.
- Engineer: Design high-utilization, low-maintenance, and safety-compliant machinery.
- Strategize: Create comprehensive tool strategies and implementation timelines.
- Lead: Develop compelling presentations to secure executive support and funding for new initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
- Education: B.S. in Engineering (M.S. preferred)
- Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation
- Skills:
- Proven ability to conduct in-depth cost analyses for automation projects
- Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing practical manufacturing solutions
- Deep understanding of engineering principles, those related to high-temperature design will be a plus
- Exceptional written, verbal, and active listening communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of building cross-functional relationships
- Background in control, robotic, and PLC programming is a plus
- Experience in high-volume thin ceramics, solar, and battery manufacturing is a plus

Salary Ranges:
$146,800.00 – $211,200.00
