Job Summary:
Under the direction of the head of construction, the incumbent leads, directs and coordinates the work of subcontractors and/or trade labor. The Solar Construction Superintendent (Superintendent) is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed and adherence to budget of the project. The Superintendent has supervisory responsibility for Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Subcontractors and Trade Labor affiliated with the construction project.

The Superintendent will support all aspects of the construction project phase through the startup/commissioning phase before passing the project to the operations and maintenance team for commercial solar projects.

The Superintendent is expected to live in the locale near the construction site for the duration of the construction phase of the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Oversee work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operations. Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Manage the overall site safety program as required and ensure subcontractor compliance with BioStar standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Prepare overall job schedules and 3 week look ahead schedules and be able to meet or exceed those schedules. Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
  • Communicate with owners and architects/engineers in connections with field issues. Investigate and resolve such issues.
  • Coordinate the billing process as it relates to Work In Place (WIP) and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Manage the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.

Education and/or Skills and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four years related solar superintendent construction experience and minimum ten years in commercial construction. Solar experience a definite requirement.
  • Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, and proficiency in EH&S applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
