Responsibilities
Monitor plant SCADA data and telemetry. Respond to alarms, communication, and telemetry issues. Generate work orders when defects or adverse symptoms occur. (40%)
Collaborate with onsite plant operations and interconnect entities to coordinate activities and interaction with scheduling, marketing, and reporting (10%)
Responsible for recording and maintaining control room records; i.e., logs, reading sheets, pertinent data, observations and trends regarding normal and transient operation. Responsible for ensuring facility reports are timely, accurate and complete. (10%)
Provide technical assistance in equipment diagnosis and problem solving as directed by the operations supervisor or operations manager. Coordinate causality control measures during plant upset conditions, including containment, control and corrective actions. (10%)
Create work orders, close and audit work orders while prioritizing work. Work closely with maintenance to establish priorities necessary to maintain plant reliability. (10%)
Responsible for overseeing and issues equipment LOTO, confined space permits and switching control. (10%)
Communicate to scheduling coordinator outages, testing scheduling, telemetry issues, communication issues, production during communication issues, outage resolutions (5%)
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)
Qualifications
Associate’s or technical degree; relevant certification or equivalent work experience. (Typically three years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess an associate or technical degree.) Knowledge of personal computer software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing and database.
Three or more years power plant operation experience including full competency in outside operator job duties and distributed control systems experience; solar experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately. Ability to speak effectively, use acceptable telephone and radio etiquette necessary to communicate needed plant responses.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, draw and interpret bar graphs.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in a mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
