1. Summary of Responsibilities:

Our client is looking for a Project Finance Risk Vice President. The candidate will assist the Project Finance Risk team in the analysis, approval and monitoring of the Project Finance deals originated in BBVA New York.

In line with the mid to senior level position he / she will have to combine tasks such as monitoring internal portfolios and pipelines, prepare portfolio reports, provide support to junior members within the team; with more senior tasks such as documentation of executed deals and, specifically, preparing credit packages based on strong risk analysis and running financial models of awarded transactions.

2.List Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Financial and Risk Analysis of project finance opportunities, including Infrastructure, Oil & Gas and Renewable assets.
  • Assist with the monitoring and waiver / amendments management of the BBVA New York Project Finance portfolio.
  • Assist with the production of timely and strong risk packages and accurate reports for different Risk Committees (including local and global committees) in coordination with the HO Project Finance Risk team.
  • Present to the Risk Committees when required.
  • Maintenance of internal reports and their distribution to the appropriate areas.
  • Interaction with the Madrid Project Finance Risk team to coordinate the analysis of the proposals coming from the Project Finance origination team.
  • Ability to maintain credit files and folders to make sure everything is accurate to field internal audits and credit quality control.

3.Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:

Moderately to significantly complex responsibilities, with a critical component being the production and review of strong credit packages and the coordination and interaction with other teams within the bank (locally and globally). Strong understanding of underwriting and risk analysis.

4.Skills, knowledge, and abilities/Competencies:

  • Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 7+ years of experience working in corporate and/or investment banking related to Project Finance and/or experience in construction / energy firms related to Project Finance
  • Understanding of financial modeling
  • Formal credit training a strong plus
  • Fluent in English a must, strong preference for Spanish fluency
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, financial modeling and DCF analysis
  • Proficient in ALL Microsoft Office Tools
  • Strong excel and power-point necessary, Bloomberg a plus
