Job Overview
Balanced Rock Power is seeking a fast-learning and motivated Senior Manager of Finance; this role will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and success of the organization. You will lead a team and drive clean energy project financial modeling, corporate modeling, project budget creation, and economic performance analysis to inform strategic decisions across the business, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the companys growth and development efforts. This high-visibility position falls within the Chief Financial Officers team and collaborates extensively with the Vice President of Finance. The ideal candidate must be organized, articulate, able to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and a mentor to junior team members. Some travel will be required.
Responsibilities
Lead team responsible for developing and maintaining project-level and corporate-level financial models to support strategic decision-making and long-term financial planning
Analyze, model and summarize economic profile of assigned portfolio of assets from initial greenfield siting through sale
Create sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of various operational and financial assumptions on company/project returns, providing insights and recommendations
Assess economic feasibility of project acquisitions and M&A opportunities through financial modeling, diligence, and documentation
Prepare and present executive-level reports and presentations for senior management, investment committee, and investors
Drive initiatives to streamline and improve the companys financial models and stay abreast of industry trends, capital markets conditions, and financing structures
Collaborate closely with the development, engineering, origination and interconnection teams to compile and confirm project inputs and assumptions
Engage with potential project buyers, investors, lenders, and consultants to build and maintain strong relationships and solicit feedback on any changes to modeling inputs
Support execution of capital raising activities including: preparing marketing materials, leading outreach to potential counterparties, running due diligence processes, and assisting in the negotiation of term sheets and credit agreements
Manage letters of credit (LC) and surety bond facilities. Forecast security posting needs across the portfolio and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, underlying agreements and internal policies
Mentor junior team members to foster their development
Required Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience (renewables, clean tech, or related sectors); previous solar and BESS experience desirable
Bachelors Degree required (Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or related preferred)
Robust financial modeling skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a team-oriented and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
Ability to interface with different levels and functions of the organization as well as with external parties such as banks, lawyers, customers, and contractors
Humble, positive outlook with a simple, open communication style
Track record of managing multiple time sensitive priorities
Proficient in MS Office365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
MBA or advanced degree in economics, finance, or related field
2-3 years of tax equity modeling and/or transaction modeling experience
1-3 years of renewable energy industry work experience
Robust network of capital markets contacts
Experience writing and maintaining VBA code
Experience with Monday.com
