Experienced Commercial/Utility Solar Field Service Technician

Role Description
This is a full-time field-based role for an experienced Commercial or Utility Solar Technician. The Solar Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with solar system commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. They will work on both commercial and utility solar projects and ensure the reliable and efficient operation of solar power systems.
Expectations/Duties
- The ideal location of Candidate is within one hour of DFW metroplex. 50% of fieldwork is expected in this region.
- 50% of field work is expected to cover South and West TX as well as Arkansas which will require out of town trips of 2-5 days.
- Work will include break/fix, commissioning duties, Preventative Maintenance, PV Analysis with formal, written reports.
- Company vehicle, laptop or pad, cell phone, shirts, caps, PPE gear, and test equipment will be provided. Candidate will possess their own hand tools.
- May work independently or accompanied, dependent on job safety criteria.
Qualifications
- Ability on day 1 to independently troubleshoot all components of a solar system up to 600VAC/1500DC, perform commissioning duties, and any/all PM activities
- Ability to lead and mentor less experienced field technicians
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Valid Driver’s License with insurable driving record
- Knowledgeable in Electrical Safety and Arc Flash requirements
- Ability to perform physical demands of solar maintenance
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, heat/cold
- Willingness to be away from home for a week at a time, occasionally 2 weeks
- Certified or willingness to become certified in OSHA 30 (General Safety), OSHA 29 1926/1910 (Fall Protection), and NFPA 70 (Arc Flash)
Highly Regarded Additional Qualities
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Solar, Battery Storage, or related discipline with field experience, OR
- Certified Journeyman with 4+ years’ experience in solar field work
- Relevant certifications in solar, electrical, NFPA
- NETA experience
- MV experience
- Battery storage experience
- Drone IR and pilot certification

Salary Expectations
- $30-$45 per hour dependent on experience
