Your Impact at Ascend Analytics

We are seeking a n Senior Integration Engineer with a strong background in third-party integrations to join our SmartBidder team. The SmartBidder team is growing quickly and is directly impacting the clean energy transition by helping Ascend’s clients realize the value of renewable energy and storage projects.

As Senior Integration Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth integration of our software with external systems that manage renewable energy assets, interface with energy markets, and provide key data needed to optimize energy market participation. Additionally, you will provide exceptional client support and insights regarding technical integrations during the onboarding process for new SmartBidder clients, lead testing before go-live, and provide ongoing support for these integrations after go-live.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and third-party engineers alongside Ascend analysts, customer success, and engineers to ensure proper hand-off from sales to implementation and to understand and deliver end-to-end technical implementations of key integrations that align with client requirements
  • Scope, design, develop, and implement integrations with third-party solutions and data providers
  • Troubleshoot issues and evaluate new requirements as they arise, proposing effective solutions and best practices
  • Develop a common framework for integrating third-party software and regularly execute a comprehensive test plan for integrations that use this framework
  • Drive internal API, alerting, and QA design and development to improve efficiency, efficacy, stability, and risk management associated with third-party integrations
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of implemented solutions, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Partner with the customer success team to project-manage integration work and help maintain tracking of implementation progress and status for communication to customers
  • Participate as primary technical support for platform as part of teams’ weekly support rotations
  • Own deployment of individual new releases as part of team’s rotation for managing new releases

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years experience in implementing third-party integrations and/or as a technical sales resource for a software product
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Extensive experience with data structures and API schemas, including an understanding of API design philosophies and patterns including common communication protocols (SOAP, REST) and data formats (JSON, XML).
  • Understanding of security requirements of integration work
  • Tenacity to navigate ambiguity and gather clear requirements from third-parties
  • Ability to flexibly work on multiple workstreams in parallel based on sometimes tight and shifting client timelines
  • Familiarity with project management to stay organized and manage, track, and communicate progress internally and externally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems
  • Familiarity with Azure environments and Microsoft DevOps
  • Background in energy and/or electricity markets

Compensation: $105,000 – $135,000

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
