Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Energy Transition team to support and grow our expanding business in the Western U.S. across a range of sectors, including linear utilities, oil and gas, rail and transit, mining and renewable energies. The successful candidate will be engaged in both client development, through the management and growth of new and existing client relationships, and in project delivery. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities. Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of project and client teams. Periodic travel will be required (10-15%).

Role accountabilities:

As a Principal Environmental Project Manager, you will lead diverse teams of biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, engineers, and other technical specialists to successfully execute environmental permitting projects for oil and gas, linear utilities, mining, renewable energy, and rail clients. You will lead project teams in developing permitting strategies, and coordinate with clients to ensure successful project outcomes. Therefore, it is expected that you have demonstrated experience with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act; and experience working with the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. Additionally, you will provide senior level quality assurance/quality control for client deliverables, including agency consultations and permit applications.

In this role, you will also be involved in supporting and/or managing the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders. This will include leveraging existing client relationships, supporting client account teams, and leading pursuits and proposal opportunities, including scope and cost development.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or similar environmental discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience managing environmental permitting projects in the western United States in the environmental consulting industry.
  • Experience leading teams and working in collaboration with of biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, and other specialists in developing high quality documents for environmental projects.
  • Proven project manager who is schedule-driven, with experience estimating and managing costs and delivery of environmental planning projects.
  • Experience working with the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and western state agencies in the preparation of environmental documents and reports. (I.e. technical reports, National Environmental Policy Act documents, permit applications, and similar). Specific regional experience with these agencies and deliverables in Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada is preferred.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Management, Natural Sciences or related field
  • Experience supporting and/or managing client development including identifying opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, and leading proposal development including the preparation of scope of work and project budgets.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $116000 – $200100. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
