Job Description

Who We Are Arcadia is the technology company empowering energy innovators and consumers to fight the climate crisis. Our software and APIs are revolutionizing an industry held back by outdated systems and institutions by creating unprecedented access to the data and clean energy needed to make a decarbonized energy grid possible.

In 2014, Arcadia set out on its mission to break the fossil fuel monopoly and since then we have been knocking down the institutional barriers to unlock decarbonization. To date, we have connected hundreds of thousands of consumers and small businesses with high-quality clean energy options. Fast forward to today, and now, we’re thinking even bigger. We have launched Arc, an industry-defining SaaS platform that empowers developers and energy innovators to deliver their own custom, personalized energy experiences, accelerating the transformation of the industry from an analog energy system into a digitized information network.

Tackling one of the world’s biggest challenges requires out-of-the-box thinking & diverse perspectives. We’re building a team of individuals from different backgrounds, industries, & educational experiences. If you share our passion for ushering in the era of the clean electron, we look forward to learning what you would uniquely bring to Arcadia!

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a mission-driven Manager of Utility Partnerships to join the Policy and Market Development team in the fight against climate change. This individual will lead Arcadia’s engagements with electric, gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications utilities to improve the company’s business operations. The ideal candidate has professional experience in the clean energy or utility industry, strong external communications skills, and a demonstrated ability to build relationships with business executives. A deep knowledge of utility IT infrastructure and customer service systems would be a strong asset. This position will support Arcadia’s enterprise software and community solar businesses, and the Manager will need to be able to describe those businesses externally in detail.

The primary purpose of this position is to improve and retain access to the utility systems and utility data that Arcadia uses to serve our customers. Success in this role would be creating and maintaining strong working relationships that lead to reliable and resilient access to those systems and data. Additionally, the Manager of Utility Partnerships will collaborate frequently with peers on the policy team and senior leadership across the company.

Arcadia is open to fully remote candidates and employees have access to co-working spaces.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand the state of play for systems/data access at the ~10,000 utilities with which Arcadia has built integrations. Build systems to track access statuses at high-priority utilities
  • Develop and implement systems to proactively identify upcoming changes to utility systems, and communicate those changes to internal audiences
  • Contact utilities when Arcadia identifies system changes that impact our access and work with the utilities to resolve all issues
  • Work with colleagues and external allies to shape policies and regulations related to third party access to customer data

Must-haves

What will help you succeed:

  • An excitement and ability to go deep on Arcadia’s technology. The Manager has to understand what we do at a very technical level
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team-first mindset. This is not a job for a lone wolf, and will require daily – even hourly – collaboration with colleagues across the company
  • A commitment to Arcadia’s values, including celebrating diverse backgrounds, bringing clean energy to underserved communities, and fighting climate change

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-7 years of experience in the energy and utility industry
  • Experience working with utilities or other large and highly-regulated incumbent organizations (such as banks and insurance companies) in a customer-success or client-success role
  • Direct employment experience at a utility or utility association
  • A thorough understanding of how utilities serve their customers, including customer information system capabilities, contact center operations, and privacy and security practices and policies
  • Relationships with multiple utilities, ideally developed in a business development setting or similar

Benefits

  • “Remote first” culture – work anywhere in the US as long as you have a reliable internet connection
  • Flexible PTO – no accrued hours and no limit on the number of vacation days exempt employees can take each year
  • 17 annual company-wide holidays including a week long “summer break”
  • 10 days sick leave
  • Up to 4 weeks bereavement leave
  • 2 volunteer days off
  • 2 professional development days off
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave for all parents
  • 80-95% employer cost coverage for medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees and dependents
