The SMT Line Engineering Technician will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and fine-tuning programs for all equipment used in SMP related machines for circuit board assembly. Program development will include but not limited to pick and place, screen printing, wave soldering, and reflow profiling of AOI equipment. Job duties will also include machine operation, setup, line maintenance, training, and ensuring proper program performance and efficiency. The SMT Line Engineering Technician will work with production, engineering, and machine operators to maintain equipment and to ensure efficient operation of work centers to meet production schedules. This position will also include troubleshooting program/process/machine issues and fault corrections.
Major Areas Of Responsibility
- Creates and updates programs for pick and place equipment, screen printer, reflow ovens, wave solder and AOI.
- Instituting ECN/BOM Documentation in accordance with ISO guidelines.
- Provide guidance to SMT operating technicians by organizing workflow, ensuring team understand their duties and provide coaching/training to employees to perform required tasks.
- Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback, implement and enforce: systems, procedures, and policies.
- Ability to perform major and minor repairs, tests, and calibration for mechanical, electrical, and electronically controlled SMT Line equipment.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematic, electronic diagrams, and pneumatic diagrams.
- Coordinate maintenance schedule base upon production schedule.
- Lead in the ordering, inventory and sourcing of machine repair parts.
- Assist in process engineers to improving the process and quality, as well as efficiency.
- Assist in SMT line supervisor to track WO/SO status and meet deadline.
- Responsible of the maintenance of inventory records for all manufacturing machines.
- Interprets assembly drawings. Work with production team to interpret assembly work instructions.
- Support Production Manager with employee training and day to day questions with work orders from staff.
- Work overtime and different shifts as needed.
- Other duties assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- 3-4-years’ experience of relevant experience in electronics manufacturing (preferably printed circuit board assembly).
- Strong attention to detail, reliable character who is able to work independently and as a group.
- Willingness to make decisions for the team and be responsible for the outcome.
- Must be proactive and capable of working closely with others in a team environment.
- Must be able to work well without supervision and deliver results under pressure.
- Proficient with common computer skills. (MS Office, Excel, Power Point, internet research, etc.)
- YAMAHA IPULSE S20 experience. (Preferred)
Education And Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 4 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 2 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Assembly Experience: 2 years. (Required)
- Mechanical Knowledge: 3 years. (Required)
Physical Demands
- Must be physically capable of handling up to 25lb boxes and able to work standing throughout the shift.
